Message From the President Welcome to our website. As I begin my tenure as the incoming President of the American Board of Professional Psychology, I am delighted to report that our organization is off to an exciting start for 2008! We anticipate that it will be a landmark year of growth regarding an increase in the number of board-certified professionals. Moreover, we look forward to increasing our collaboration with other leading psychology organizations, promoting competent practice, and attracting a new generation of psychologists to board certification. We now have a full-time Executive Officer, Dr. David Cox, who is the “new face” of ABPP’s Central Office. He has traveled extensively throughout this past year representing our organization and promoting our new initiatives. We have a solid office infrastructure in place and the day-to-day operations are in the able hands of Assistant EO Nancy MacDonald and Administrative Assistant, Judy Cline, who provide a warm and professional welcome to our Savannah office. Officer Update - Winter 2008 By the time you read this, many of the items of which I am writing will be news that has been broadcast over a variety of other avenues. Indeed, some of the information that I am currently writing will have progressed beyond the stage where it is at present. That is the nature of print media; and that is also the nature of the American Board of Professional Psychology these days. Changes are happening in a variety of venues; fortunately, mostly, if not all, are for the better! American Board of Professional Psychology Value Statement Board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) provides peer and public recognition of demonstrated competence in an approved specialty area in professional psychology. In addition, ABPP board certification provides the professional with increased opportunities for career growth, including employability, mobility, and financial compensation. |
